Vocab Lesson 16

1. relinquish - verb - to renounce, surrender, to give up, to let go. For example: Because the cops showed up, the bad guy relinquished his plan to rob the bank.

3. earnest - adjective - sincere attention, purpose, or effort. Example: He was an earnest worker because he needed to provide for his family. Example: The boy asked me in earnest if I liked him.
